Scout officially turns Eight today, or 56 in dog years!
You’d think by now she’d be a grumpy old lady, but she’s not old at all (but can be grumpy sometimes…).
It’s been a big year for her, and for us; We moved out of Denver, made some new friends..
Explored spaces near and far…
and took some very good naps!
We had a rough time in the fall when you tore your ACL. We had to go see the specialty veterinarian (Orhthoscopic):
We were back in a few dsya for the surgey, and I was so focused on that I didn’t take any pictures. Coming back that afternoon to pick you up was great; I could hear you howling in the very back from the front door!
Watching you wander down the hallway towrds me, howling your little head off with two nurses helping you down the hall was quite the tug at the heart strings, but as soon as you lifted your head and saw me, you stoppped howling and just kept stumbling towards me.
You were already loaded on drugs from the surgery, but when the nurses loaded you into the truck, you were so goofy, just sitting there with your big cone of shame!
Eight weeks of crate rest until your first check up, the first few days were very queit, but once you had enough rest, you were ready to go!
We had a lot of fun playing all the silly games; you tugging at the leash, whining at the door, and trying to jump on everything… It was a chellenege for sure, but you managed, with just a small hiccup in the surgical scar that cleared up in a week.
Once we got a clean bill of health and you were free to start returning to normal activity, the look of joy on your face when you finally got to to the dog park was anbsolutely priceless!
You also finally got your first through teeth cleaning, and apparently caused quite a stir with your teeth cleaning buddy, Maev.
You also were apparently quite hungry afterwards, not bothering to wait for dinner…
I know, I know, ‘it was the drugs’; Suuuuuuuuuure it was! 😛
You just wanted to take those freshly cleaned teeth for a spin, didn’t you?
Not a single regret in the world…
